La Fondation de Corée

La Fondation de Corée a été établie en 1991 dans le but de promouvoir une meilleure compréhension de la Corée sur la scène internationale et de renforcer l’amitié avec ses voisins. Elle déploie une diversité d’activités d’échange entre la Corée et l’étranger, notamment pour la « promotion des études coréennes », les « échanges intellectuels», et les « échanges culturels ».

Deux programmes de bourses de la Korea Foundation :

Korea Foundation Fellowship for Graduate Studies

(Northern, Western and Southern European Regions)

This program seeks to foster Korean Studies MA & Ph.D. candidates in Northern, Western, and Southern Europe by providing scholarships to support their research and dissertation efforts.

Program Objective

This Program is designed to assist talented foreign graduate students in Korean Studies with scholarships for their coursework and/or research

Eligibility

Applicants must be foreign graduate students majoring in Korean studies and be enrolled at the university in humanities or social science programs during the desired scholarship period.

Field of Project/Study/Research

Korea-related coursework and research in the humanities and social sciences, culture and arts, and comparative research related to Korea.

Grant/Fellowship Terms and Amount

Fellowship amounts will be determined on the basis of country and region. They will be provided in the form of flat stipends and are intended to cover living expenses and/or tuition costs.

Grant/Fellowship Period

Fellowships are valid for one academic year only. Fellowship recipients may reapply in succeeding years for additional support; however, they will be judged competitively against that year’s pool of applicants.

Bourses pour les cours de langue coréenne

Korean Language Training

Objectifs

Il s’agit d’appuyer les stages de coréen proposés par les centres linguistiques attachés aux universités coréennes pour que les chercheurs, les étudiants en maîtrise ou les spécialistes en études coréennes, se trouvant à l’étranger, puissent apprendre la langue de façon plus approfondie et concrète.

Un tel programme a pour but de mieux faire connaître la langue coréenne dans le monde entier afin de promouvoir toute recherche sur la Corée.

Eligibility

Basic qualifications and academic background are as follows:

Graduate students who are majoring or minoring in Korea-related subjects for master’s or doctoral degrees;

Faculty members and researchers engaged in teaching or research activities at universities or research institutes; or

Professionals with cultural/artistic organizations related with Korea (e.g., museum curators, librarians, government officials in charge of Korean affairs, etc.)

[ Notes ] Applicants must have a basic knowledge of and an ability to communicate in the Korean language (intermediate level preferred).

For Korean nationals, only those with foreign permanent residency status are eligible to apply.

Number of fellows varies based on the Foundation’s annual budget.

Grant/Fellowship Terms and Amount

Monthly stipend

Master’s degree and below: 900,000 Won

Doctoral candidates and above: 1,100,000 Won

Settling-in Allowance: 300,000 Won (one-time benefit)

Tuition for Korean Language Course

Travellers’ Insurance: Reimbursement for medical expenses incurred due to illness or accidents in Korea during the grant period.

[Notes] Airfare for fellows to travel to and from Korea will not be paid or reimbursed.

Grant/Fellowship Period

Six months or so (a three- to six-month extension is possible for those who achieve good grades.)
